Darliss Clay

Darliss, born in Beverly Hills, relocated to Rainier in 1932 with her parents, Jacques and Antoinette Kawall, who were proprietors of a thriving photography studio and antique store. She graduated from Rainier High School and was crowned Miss Rainier in 1948. In November of that year, she married Roger C. Fox, with whom she had four children. In 1972, she married Donald Clay, sharing a passion for boating in the San Juan Islands and joined Columbia River Yacht Club in 1975, a membership she retained until her passing. In 1966, Darliss ventured into real estate, founding Happy Homes Properties, Inc. in 1976, which flourishes today. Recognized as Realtor Emeritus by the National Association of Realtors, she was also a member of Women of Rotary/Inner Wheel and the Portland Home Builder’s Association. Survived by her children, Lori Lane, Greg Fox (Adriana); DIL, Linda Fox; grandchildren, Rozlyn and Stephan Fox; and great-grandson, Donovan. Predeceased by sons, John and Jimmy. Darliss, known for her infectious smile and zest for life, will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Columbia River Yacht Club on May 19, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Carolyn Maria Stevens

Carolyn Maria Stevens, age 70, of Gresham, Oregon passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Carolyn, who worked with the RE/MAX Advantage Group in Happy Valley, OR was first licensed in 1978.
She served on the East Metro Association of REALTORS Board of Directors in 1990, 1993, and 1994.

Carolyn was the Distinguished Service Award winner in 2018.

A service for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Church (28986 SE Haley Rd in Boring, OR).

Edward Petrossian

Long-time RMLS Director, Edward Petrossian, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 26 at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

Edward “Eddie” Petrossian, born on November 26, 1958, in Tehran, Iran, was a man whose life journey, though spanning continents, always had one underlying theme: an unwavering commitment to the community he was part of.

Ed’s academic pursuits led him from Hadaf High School in Tehran to Redrice boarding school in Hampshire, UK, and finally to the University of Portland in Oregon, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1981. This move to Portland in 1977 marked the beginning of an enduring relationship with the city and its people.

Entering the realm of real estate at Stan Wiley in 1988, Ed’s journey was nothing short of illustrious. He ascended the ranks to become a Principal Broker for both Oregon and Washington at Re/MAX Equity Group. Beyond his personal milestones, Ed’s larger-than-life contributions to the Oregon real estate landscape, especially his tireless efforts at the state and local association levels, have cemented his legacy as an industry titan. His tenure included multiple leadership roles, with significant time served as an RMLS Director, reflecting his deep involvement in shaping the industry.

His passion extended beyond business. Ed was a beacon of hope for many, serving as a Board Member of the Union Gospel Mission since 1997. His philanthropic endeavors supported countless individuals in their battles against hunger, homelessness, and addiction. A devout Armenian Apostolic Christian, Ed’s faith was central to his life. He generously supported the St. Kevork Armenian Apostolic Church of Oregon and took on the mantle of principal of the local Armenian Saturday School, reinforcing his deep ties to his cultural roots.

Family was the cornerstone of Ed’s world. Married to Alina Petrossian in 1982, their bond, which began when they were just 15, stood the test of time, spanning four decades. Together, they raised two sons, Gregory and Armon, ensuring that the values Ed cherished were passed down. He also shared close bonds with his three sisters Medik, Diana, and Carolin and held dear memories of his parents Gregor and Berjouhi Petrossian.

For those who knew him personally, Ed was more than just a professional contact. He was a mentor, a guide, and above all, a dear friend. He was recognized for always having a positive attitude, remaining humble, and generous. His love for life was evident in his hobbies. A fervent supporter of Manchester United, the Portland Timbers, and the Trail Blazers, he also found joy in the simple pleasures of a good cigar, a glass of scotch, and a game of golf at his beloved Claremont Golf Club. He spent many weekday mornings at the Multnomah Athletic Club working out, socializing with friends, and enjoying their community events.

On August 20th, 2023, at 2:05 AM, after a courageous year-long fight with pancreatic cancer, Ed serenely and gracefully departed in his sleep. Ed’s final resting place, the Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary, overlooking the Fountain of Remembrance, is a testament to a life well-lived – one filled with passion, purpose, and an enduring legacy that will inspire generations to come.

Elaine Elliott

Elaine Elliott, formerly of John L Scott Real Estate, passed away on June 13, 2023. Her family invites those who knew Elaine to join them for services at Evergreen Memorial (1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98684) on Friday, June 30 at 12:30 PM. Any donations will be passed to the Living Water Church (2901 NE 65th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98661).

Mike Kauffman

Mike Kauffman passed away on 12-24-2022 from cancer in his liver. He leaves behind his lifelong best friend and brother Tom and several other siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hedy, 4 years ago who also died from cancer.

Mike was born on April 25, 1958, and grew up in Canby on the family farm. He was a country boy with a heart of gold. Mike’s smile would light up his beautiful blue eyes, and you could feel his smile radiating through the telephone.

Hedy was the love of his life, and they enjoyed traveling the world plus taking their annual trips to Hawaii, Mexico and Florida with lots of friends. They enjoyed taking his dog, Louie, to the beach at Yachats in Oregon. The solitude of watching the waves rolling in and walks along the beach brought him comfort and peace. Mike & Hedy loved to cook and often entertained family and friends on their deck which overlooked Oswego Lake.

Mike began his commercial real estate career around February 1993 with Coldwell Banker. He left in 2009 to join Keller Williams Realty at the Portland Central office to open their Commercial Division. He later joined the Keller Williams Realty Portland Premiere office in May of 2014.

Mike was a walking encyclopedia of commercial information. He was highly sought after to help evaluate properties from his peers throughout the industry at all real estate companies. Appraisers often called him to help them with their price and valuations of properties, and he always stopped to accommodate their requests.

He loved networking with his Portland Business Forum group and relished all the special friendships that developed from his clients, peers, and business partners along the way. Mike was the epitome of the WIN-WIN concept at Keller Williams. He had a special way when working on a sale agreement that both sides felt like they got the best deal possible. Mike was genuine, no games, just get to the best deal with utmost integrity. He was the old-fashioned handshake kind of guy that was true to his word.

A Celebration of Life was held on 2-28-2023 at the Tumwater Ballroom. Although Mike did not designate a donation site, he LOVED dogs and children, so any place that honors and supports them would be honoring the kind-hearted Mike.

Greg Gleaves

Gregory Lynn Gleaves was born April 18, 1952 in Medford, Oregon. He passed away November 14, 2022 in Sherwood, Oregon at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Jonette, daughters Jamye and Kristye, 6 grandchildren and his dad Jerry Gleaves.

Greg graduated from Medford High School in 1970. Later that year he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 7 years.

In 1973 he and Jonette met while he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, in Oklahoma. They were married in 1974. They were each others best friend for 49 years. It was his mission and purpose in life to take care of Jonette. He could not have done a better job of it! He was a great father who excelled at loving and providing for his family. He loved his grandchildren and loved being called “grandpa.”

In 1977 Greg was honorably discharged from the Air Force. For the next 15 years he was in the car business. He was General Sales manager at Gleaves Volkswagen, Kuni Cadillac BMW, and Lexus of Portland. In 1993 he began his Real Estate career. He was a partner and principle broker. He loved sales and loved helping people. His father in-law always said “If there is any money to be made, Greg will make his share!”

Greg was a friend to all and never met a stranger. His life long best friend, Shorty Ayers, dad gave Greg the nickname “Catfish” at a young age because his mouth was always open! He will be dearly missed.

Greg loved God with all his heart and loved serving in his church and his Pastors. His favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He applied this in every area of his life.

Memorial Services will be held January 23, 11:15am at Willamette National, Happy Valley, Oregon

Kim Salvesen-Pauly

Windermere owner Kim Salvesen-Pauly recently passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Even when times were tough, her infectious energy and enthusiasm for life and real estate were fully displayed.

Kim became a Windermere franchise owner in 2007 when she purchased the Windermere Glenn Taylor Real Estate company in Hood River, OR. She later added locations in Stevenson, Bingen, The Dalles, Cascade Locks, White Salmon, and most recently, Goldendale, WA, under the company name Windermere Real Estate Columbia River Gorge. Kim was a savvy businessperson and an inspiring mentor to many.

She was very active in the real estate industry, serving on the Lincoln County Board of REALTORS for more than seven years, including serving as president in 2003. That same year she also served as a state director with the Oregon Association of REALTORS and earned REALTOR of the Year. In 2012 she received the same honor from the Mid-Columbia Association of REALTORS, an award she received again in 2022 for her many contributions to the association and her community. Kim will always be remembered for her tenacious spirit, optimism, hope, and gratitude and will be missed profoundly by all who had the opportunity to meet and know her.

A celebration of life will be held for Kim on January 21 from 10:00 AM to noon at the Skamania Lodge (Ballroom). All are welcome to come and give her the send-off this great lady deserves!

Dixie Elliott

Dixie Elliott was a lifelong Oregonian, born in McMinnville, Dec 9, 1941, her parents Richard and Irene Swanson had moved to Oregon in their youth in hopes of a new beginning and in search of opportunity, Dixie was raised in Aloha on a small farm with her sister Ladene and brother Dick. She graduated Beaverton High school Class of 1960, attended Oregon State University for two years before starting a career in Retail sales.

Dixie was married to William “Bill” Elliott in 1964 they had one child Scott Elliott in 1967. Bill passed away unexpectedly in 1983.

Dixie was a connector, she loved bringing people together, whether it was over a good glass of wine, a dinner party, a real estate transaction, or simply a chat in the back yard. Her desire for connection through people drove great enjoyment for her. These skills proved to be very beneficial as Dixie started her career in residential real estate sales in 1980. Her career and her decision to pursue real estate sales fulfilled a passion for her, it allowed her financial means but more importantly it allowed her to shine as a person.

Dixies professional career in real estate started as an associate then grew into management positions at Barbara Sue Seal Properties. As the managing broker of the Uptown branch Dixie managed, mentored, and coached many associates to new levels of achievement. She was consistently recognized as a top producer Realtor and was a fixture in Portland residential sales for over forty years. The relationships she developed with her peers provided great enjoyment and lasting friendships.

The Grandmother of three, Dixie, found great enjoyment in identifying with each one of them individually. She invested time to understand who they were and the most effective way to connect with them. It was a skill she was blessed with.

Long walks along Arch Cape combined with fresh crab cakes and fine white wine brought many evenings and weekends of delight and relaxation to her. In her words “I have no regrets, I have lived a great life…”

Dixie passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 21.  She had battled AML, a type of leukemia courageously for over two years. She leaves behind an immediate family of son and daughter in law, Scott and Selena Elliott, three grandchildren: William, Andrew, and Kate Elliott plus an extended large loving family.

A memorial service and reception will be held January 14, 2023, at 1pm. Bethel Congregational Church, 5150 SW Watson Ave. Beaverton, OR.
